Report: Spurs have put the ‘most effort’ into signing Dutchman this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are the club who have put in the ‘most effort’ to sign Memphis Depay so far this summer, according to Spanish news outlet Sport.

Despite adding Richarlison to their forward ranks this summer and already having the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura, Tottenham have been linked with a move for Depay over recent weeks (Ekrem Konur).

Sport have now claimed that the Dutchman has been informed that he ‘must leave’ Nou Camp this summer, with Barcelona signing Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha while also renewing Ousmane Dembele’s contract.

The report suggests that Depay has been ‘proactive’ in looking for a new club over recent days.

Although Spurs have reportedly put in the most effort to sign the 28-year-old this summer, the striker is not thought to be interested in joining Antonio Conte’s side.

Sport add that Juventus, AS Roma and Ajax have also shown interest in the Netherlands international, who is said to be valued at €20m (£17m) by Catalan giants.

Spurs Web Opinion

I completely understand why Depay would not want to come to Spurs as he will likely get even fewer minutes at the north London club than he did at Barca last season.

Besides, I do not think Conte is likely to be on the lookout for another forward this summer. Once the Spence signing is complete, I can only see Spurs moving for an attacking midfielder and potentially another centre-back.
