Report: Spurs have rejected three offers for player who featured against Chelsea

Journalist Jorge Nicola has revealed on Yahoo Sports Brazil that Tottenham have rejected three different offers for Lucas Moura this summer.

Antonio Conte experimented with Moura at right wing-back during the pre-season friendlies this summer and that was the position the Brazilian featured in at Stamford Bridge on Sunday after replacing Emerson Royal in the second half with Spurs chasing the game.

Moura said in an interview with Football.London last month that Conte has been clear on what is expected of him, and added that he is ready to play in any position the Spurs boss deems fit.

Nicola has now revealed that while the 30-year-old is expected to stay at Tottenham this season, it is not down to a lack of offers for the player. The journalist claimed that Moura has received three offers – One from England, one from Italy and one from Saudi Arabia.

He explained that the latter of the three was the biggest offer, both in terms of the transfer fee and the salary proposed to the Brazilian.

He states that Tottenham ‘haven’t even opened talks’ regarding the winger and wish to keep him in the squad unless an ‘extremely nice offer’ arrives. Any bid below €20m (£16.8m) will not be enough to convince Spurs to part ways with Moura this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It absolutely makes sense for Conte to keep Moura around as a squad player. Not only can the Brazilian slot in at right wing-back if we are chasing a game but he also serves as useful cover in the forward areas in case of multiple injuries over the course of the season.
