Report: Spurs have requested information regarding summer move for Inter star

According to FC Inter News, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs to have requested information regarding a possible summer deal for Inter Milan centre-back Stefan de Vrij.

De Vrij is set to enter the final 18 months of his contract at Inter and it was previously reported that Antonio Conte wants to reunite with the defender at Spurs.

Football Insider even claimed last month that the 29-year-old is tempted by the prospect of moving to North London and asked his friends in England about the club.

FC Inter News have now revealed that Spurs, as well as Newcastle United and Barcelona, hold an interest in De Vrij.

It is explained that all three clubs have made contact over a potential summer deal for the experienced defender if he does not pen a new contract with Inter before then.

The report claims that negotiations between the Nerrazuri and De Vrij’s representatives have now come to a ‘standstill’ and the Serie A club have put talks on hold due to their economic struggles.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not expect Spurs to move for De Vrij in January, particularly given how well Eric Dier has adapted to the central sweeper role in Conte’s back three – the role that the Dutchman played under Conte at Inter. A move for a left-centre-back to provide competition for Ben Davies appears more likely next month.
