Report: Spurs have scouted German teenager ahead of potential move

According to SportBild, Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs across Europe who are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen starlet Florian Wirtz.

Wirtz made his senior professional debut for Leverkusen back in 2019, becoming Leverkusen’s youngest ever debutant at the age of 17 years and 15 days.

The attacking midfielder established himself as a regular in the side under Hannes Wolf last season and won many admirers.

He has hit even greater heights under Gerardo Seoane this campaign, having scored four goals and provided six assists in nine Bundesliga matches so far.

The teenager’s performances have also seen him being capped for Germany on four occasions this year.

SportBild claim that Spurs have sent scouts to watch Wirtz in action this season but it is revealed the North Londoners are hardly the only club interested in the player.

Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona are thought to be following the teenager’s situation while Newcastle United are mentioned as the front-runners for the midfielder following their Saudi-led takeover.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising to know that many of the clubs across Europe are keeping their eye on Wirtz, given how much the youngster’s stock has risen over the last couple of months.

It is curious to see us being linked with so many attacking midfielders. Perhaps that suggests that Dele Alli’s time at Tottenham is about to come to an end.
