Report: Spurs have second-highest operating income out of any club in the world

Tottenham Hotspur have been named in the top ten of a list of the most valuable football clubs in the world, coming in above London rivals Arsenal.

It has been a disappointing season for any Tottenham fan this year, with poor performances and frustrating results leaving the North London club in eighth place come the end of the campaign.

That final position means Spurs will miss out on European football next season for the first time in a decade.

Not only is that a blow to supporters, and indeed to the club’s chances of recruiting top names in the transfer market, but it also has a considerable financial impact.

A report from The Sun recently revealed Spurs may have missed out on around £70 million due to their league placing and the lack of continental football next year.

Nevertheless, as a business, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is being run incredibly well. The state-of-the-art stadium plays host to various other events outside of football, and the club has plenty of big sponsorship deals, too.

With all this in mind, it should come as no surprise that Forbes list Tottenham as the ninth most valuable club in world football.

The report claims the club’s current value stands at $2.8 billion. It is thought Tottenham have a revenue stream worth $591 million for the last year, and an operating income of $152 million. Only Man City have a higher current operating income.

The teams above Spurs, in order, are Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain. North London rivals Arsenal sit in tenth place behind Spurs.

Tottenham have seen a 19% increase in their value since last year. However, the Lilywhites are still worth less than half of top club Real Madrid’s $6.07 billion valuation.
