Report: Spurs have sent ‘proposal’ to sign Ligue 1 star with 21 goals this season

According to Foot Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur have made a move for Rennes striker Martin Terrier in the build up to the summer transfer window.

Ahead of his first full season in charge of Spurs, Antonio Conte allegedly wants to make six new signings at Tottenham, including a new striker (The Times). If Foot Mercato’s update is to believe, Terrier is one of the options on the North Londoners’ radar.

After struggling to live up to his potential over the last few years, the 25-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Roazhon Park this campaign, with 21 goals and four assists in Ligue 1 so far (Transfermarkt).

The versatile forward, who can play through the middle or on either flank, is said to have caught Napoli’s eye. However, Foot Mercato reveal that the Serie A club are not the only ones after Terrier, with Spurs alleged to be ‘very fond’ of the striker.

The report claims that the Lilywhites have already sent a ‘proposal’ to sign him this summer. It is explained that Rennes will have a decision to make regarding Terrier this summer, with the striker contracted to the club until 2025.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Spurs to sign a versatile forward of Terrier’s mould rather than an out-and-out number nine like Sasa Kalajdzic. However, I am not convinced that the Rennes star is of the quality that Conte needs if he is to get Spurs challenging on multiple fronts next season.
