Report: Spurs have settled on two top striker targets ahead of January

CaughtOffside have claimed that Santiago Gimenez has emerged as Tottenham’s top centre-forward target in January followed by Dusan Vlahovic.

The report states that after failing to land an out-and-out striker to replace Harry Kane in the summer, Spurs are set to prioritise signing a number nine in January.

The outlet adds that Gimenez has been ‘closely monitored’ by the Lilywhites over the last few months and has now emerged as their ‘preferred option’ to fill Kane’s shoes.

Should Spurs move for Gimenez or Vlahovic?

It is revealed that Vlahovic is the other player that Tottenham are considering after they learned that the Serbia international is not likely to sign a new contract at the Allianz Stadium.

However, it is explained that Juve would not be willing to let the 23-year-old leave on the cheap in January and are expected to demand a fee in the region of €80m (£70m) for the former Fiorentina star.

Interestingly, CaughOffside do not name Spurs as contenders for Ivan Toney’s signature, suggesting that Chelsea and Arsenal are battling it out for the Brentford star’s services.

Spurs Web Opinion

This makes a lot of sense as I simply do not see the Spurs shattering their transfer record to land Toney in January. Gimenez is a player who is of the right age profile and seemingly within Tottenham’s price range.
