Report: Spurs have spoken to Darwin Nunez’s representatives this summer

According to Football Transfers, Tottenham Hotspur have spoken to the representatives of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez regarding a potential summer transfer.

Nunez is thought to be on Tottenham’s radar this summer, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold previously revealing that the Benfica star is one of six forwards Spurs are eyeing this summer.

Football Transfers have now revealed that Nunez has been meeting with some top Premier League sides, including Spurs.

The report claims that while Antonio Conte’s men do wish to sign a marquee striker this summer, it remains to be seen whether they will push ahead with a move for the Uruguayan.

Real Madrid are not expected to sign a big-name striker this summer and it is thus stated that Nunez seems bound for the Premier League.

Football Transfers claim that the lure of Manchester United could prove too great for Nunez to turn down while Liverpool are also said to hold a genuine interest in the striker.

Newcastle United are also allegedly keen on snapping up the centre-forward but the Magpies are not thought to be confident of winning the race for the 22-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

The likes of Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea (if they sell Lukaku) need a big-name centre-forward much more desperately than Spurs do, and so one would expect those clubs to be ready to pay more than us to land Nunez. I expect Conte to try and bring in a more versatile forward in the mould of Lautaro Martinez or Rilcharlison.
