Report: Spurs have the upper hand on Inter Milan in race for teenage striker

According to Voetbal Krant, Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle Inter Milan for Royal Antwerp’s teenage sensation George Ilenikhena this summer.

Ilenikhena has not looked back since breaking into Royal Antwerp’s first team earlier this season, with the 17-year-old managing 14 goals across all competitions this season.

His performances have allegedly attracted attention from both England and Italy, with Spurs and Inter now thought to be plotting moves for the youngster.

Spurs and Inter Milan both like Ilenikhena

Voetbal Krant say that the Nerazzurri are looking to bolster their attack as they expect both Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic to depart, with the club having identified Ilenikhena as a suitable addition.

The report says that both Inter and Tottenham are aware of the Nigerian’s ‘enormous potential’, with Ange Postecoglou’s men said to have the player ‘higher on their list’

The outlet reveals that Royal Antwerp have informed interested clubs that it would take an offer of ‘at least €20m’ (£17.2m) to sign their starlet this summer.

However, it is explained that the Belgian club’s demands do not suit Inter and that combined with Tottenham’s interest makes it difficult for the Italian club to win the race for Ilenikhena.

Ilenikhena would fit with Tottenham’s transfer policy of signing the best young talent from across Europe. I would not be surprised if the Lilywhites look to sign the Nigerian and loan him back out to the Jupiler Pro League or Ligue 1.
