Report: Spurs have ‘very strong’ interest in 24-year-old midfielder

According to a report from Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur have a ‘very strong’ interest in Franck Kessie amidst his contract standoff with AC Milan.

Kessie has gone from strength to strength since arriving at the San Siro and has established himself as arguably one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Italian football.

The midfielder’s agent admitted last month that Tottenham are one of the clubs that hold an interest in his client (TMW).

Some Spurs fans on social media were excited about the rumours linking the club with a move for the Ivorian but the Lilywhites could allegedly face competition for the AC Milan star from their North London rivals, Arsenal (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Eurosport have now claimed that it is Spurs who are at the front of the queue for Kessie’s signature, with Fabio Paratici identifying the Milan star as an option to bolster the central midfield area.

It is explained that the 24-year-old has just 12 months left to run on his contract and Milan’s attempts to tie him down to a new deal have failed so far due to the player’s excessive salary demands.

However, it is asserted that the Rossoneri still have not given up hope of reaching an agreement with Kessie, even though they are bracing themselves for offers.

The report asserts that Spurs could be the first club to test the waters with a bid for the midfielder.

We should be all over this deal if Kessie’s representatives are not able to reach an agreement with Milan on a new contract in the coming days and weeks. The chance to sign a potentially world-class central midfielder for a cut-price deal is not one we can afford to pass up on.
