Report: Spurs hold ‘preliminary discussions’ as they plan nine summer sales

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are planning to offload nine first-team players this summer as they plot a major squad overhaul.

Tottenham’s struggles over the past couple of months have laid bare the weaknesses in the squad, with the Lilywhites evidently in need of plenty of upgrades across the pitch.

Various reports over the last few weeks have reported that there could be a mass exodus from Spurs this summer as Ange Postecoglou continues to put his own imprint on the squad (Football.London).

That was confirmed by the Australian himself last week when he confessed that several players will have to be let go and replaced with ones who are better suited to his system (The Guardian).

Spurs have already forged plans to sell nine players

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham have already begun working on exits for their deadwood, with nine first-team players expected to depart when the transfer window reopens.

It is revealed that Spurs are listening to offers for Emerson Royal, Richarlison, Joe Rodon, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, Bryan Gil, Djed Spence, Japhet Tanganga and Tanguy Ndombele.

In fact, the report asserts that the club have already begun with preliminary discussions over multiple player sales. The publication adds that Tottenham expect to raise significant funds from these exits to be reinvested into the squad, with a ‘huge’ overhaul planned.

One would expect most of these sales to go through early in the window as I doubt Tottenham would drive a hard bargain on the fee for many of those players.

It is surprising to see Richarlison’s name in the list but I do understand why Spurs would be tempted to accept any offer which would see them make back the money they paid for the Brazilian.
