Report: Spurs hopeful Mourinho involvement could help player to sign new deal

Tottenham Hotspur are growing increasingly confident that they can tie Troy Parrott down to a new contract.

The highly-rated 17-year-old made his competitive debut for Tottenham in the Carabao Cup defeat to Colchester United earlier in the season and had his first taste of Premier League action as a late replacement in the 5-0 win against Burnley.

Parrott’s current contract runs until the summer of 2021 and is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in European football after having already made his senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland.

Football Insider report that new head coach Jose Mourinho has already made his intentions clear that he will give the striker more game time in the second half of the season.

The Portuguese is not prepared to allow Parrott to leave the club on loan and there is hope that the taste of regular football could help him to extend his stay in North London.
