Report: Spurs icon Mauricio Pochettino keen on return to Premier League

ESPN have claimed that former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is wanted by Nice but is keen on taking up a job in the Premier League instead.

Pochettino left Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer after 18 months in charge at the club, despite leading them to a League One title last season.

ESPN now report that Nice are hopeful they can convince the Argentine to replace Lucien Favre at the Allianz Riviera.

The report states that Farve is at risk of losing his job after Nice’s poor start to the season and the club’s owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, wants Pochettino to replace the Swiss coach.

It is asserted that the club are prepared to meet the former Spurs boss’ salary demands to bring him to the south of France.

However, ESPN add that Pochettino is ‘unlikely’ to take over at Nice as the 50-year-old is keen on his next job being in the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I, like many Spurs fans, would love to see Pochettino returning to the club one day, we have to accept that it is not going to happen anytime soon. Even if Conte leaves next summer, the Argentine does not fit the profile of manager that Paratici is likely to pursue.

For Poch’s sake, I hope he does not end up taking at a club like Leicester or West Ham, who are not set up for success, just because of his desperation to return to the Premier League.
