Report: Spurs identify Vinicius replacement, two other clubs also after him

According to a report by La Repubblica (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have identified Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic as a potential replacement for Carlos Vinicius.

Vinicius joined Spurs on a season-long loan deal from Benfica last summer but the striker has found his opportunities to take to the field to be very limited.

The Brazilian has primarily been used in the Europa League when Harry Kane has been rested.

Although the 25-year-old has a very good strike rate this season, having found the back of the net on nine occasions, it remains to be seen if Spurs will take up the £40m option to sign him permanently in the summer.

La Repubblica claim that Vlahovic is one of the alternative options on Tottenham’s radar heading into the window.

The Serbian, who has had an impressive season for Viola, having notched up 12 goals in the Serie A so far, is also said to be attracting interest from West Ham and Borussia Dortmund.

It is revealed that Fiorentina are desperate to hang on to Vlahovic and are hoping to agree on a new contract with the 21-year-old, whose current deal runs out in 2023.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is evident that Jose does not view Vinicius as a long-term answer for us given how sparingly he has used the striker this season. So, I do not think there is any chance we will sign him unless Levy can re-negotiate the price with Benfica and bring it down drastically. So, we are guaranteed to be in the market for another centre-forward in the summer. I would personally prefer someone like Ings, who can make an instant impact and also be in deployed in other roles.
