‘Final details under negotiation’ – Journalist reveals midfielder is set to leave

Tanguy Ndombele is set for a return to Lyon after the French club opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a loan deal, according to journalist Julien Maynard.

The 25-year-old left the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer of 2019 to make the move to north London for a club-record £53.8m fee and penned a contract until 2025 (BBC).

Maynard claims that the final details of the deal are underway and a move to Lyon is now the most serious option for the player.

The French international has been linked with a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain which would have seen him link up once again with Mauricio Pochettino, but the deal has stalled after the Parisiens to date have struggled to free up space in their squad by selling a midfielder (TF1).

Ndombele’s last appearance for Spurs came in the FA Cup tie against Morecambe earlier this month and was hauled off at the hour mark after failing to impress and incurred the wrath of a large section of the crowd when he showed no urgency to exit the pitch, despite Antonio Conte’s side trailing 1-0 at the time.

The Spurs man is said to have opened the door to other potential exit routes after the PSG deal hit the buffers and wants to make a decision on his future soon with the transfer window set to close tomorrow (RMC Sport).

It seems hard to believe that Lyon would be able to cover all of Ndombele’s wages in a similar manner as to what PSG could have comfortably achieved given their track record of paying the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar sizeable wages.
