Report: Spurs in ‘front row’ ahead of Serie A club in the race for striker

Reports coming out of Italy claim that Tottenham are the front runners to sign Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi in the summer.

Muriqi was linked with a move to North London in the January transfer window as the Lilywhites sought to sign a replacement for Harry Kane (Aksam).

However, the 25-year-old ended up staying put at the Turkish giants. The Kosovo international is enjoying a fantastic season, having registered fifteen goals and six assists in all competitions so far (transfermarkt).

Radiosei (as relayed by Lalaziosiamonoi) now claim that Lazio have entered the race for Muriqi with the Italian club’s president Igli Tare said to be a big admirer of the striker.

However, the report asserts that the club faces an uphill battle to land the centre forward this summer, with Tottenham already in the ‘front row’ for his signature.

It is suggested that Fenerbahce will demand €20 million for the prolific striker’s signature in the summer. Muriqi is also quoted in the report as saying: “My mind is focused only on Fenerbahce.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I really like the look of Muriqi and can think he can be a valuable addition to the squad given his areal prowess and ability to hold the ball up. However, I am not sure why he will want to come to us and sit on the bench rather than playing regularly for a club like Lazio or a midtable Premier League club.
