Report: Spurs in pole position to sign Real Madrid playmaker

Tottenham Hotspur may find themselves in need of a new senior playmaker this summer, if Christian Eriksen is to leave the club.

Eriksen spokeout to the Danish media while on international duty, stating that he is now looking for a new challenge and a step up from Tottenham (Ekstra Bladet).

However, Real Madrid, who were said to be interested in the Great Dane, have now reportedly pulled out of a deal for him (Marca).

It remains to be seen whether Eriksen leaves or not this summer, as he did indicate that if no big offers came in for him, he would be open to signing a new contract (Ekstra Bladet).

However, if Eriksen is to to leave, Spurs could look to replace him with an attacking midfielder from none-other-than Real Madrid.

El Des Marque now reports that Spurs are the leading contenders to sign Dani Ceballos for somewhere in the region of £35-45m.

Spurs Web Opinion:

While the 22-year-old looks to be a promising prospect, there are other names I would put above him on my list. The likes of Lo Celso, Maddison, and van de Beek would all be higher priorities for me this transfer window.
