Report: Spurs in talks to sign 25-year-old defender – Four other clubs interested

Tottenham have been in talks with Fenerbahce over a potential deal for defender Kim Min-jae this summer, according to CNN Turk.

Kim, 25, has been a long-term target for Spurs, who allegedly attempted to lure him to North London while at Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan in 2020 (90min).

Having failed to sign the South Korea international, he secured a move to join Fenerbahce where he has progressed into commanding central defender.

SIC Noticias journalist Pedro Sepulveda recently reported that Spurs have continued to monitor Kim’s progress with the Turkish side, and sent scouts to watch him in action in the draw against Trabzonspor last week.

And CNN Turk now state the Lilywhites have entered talks with Fenerbahce over securing a potential transfer at the end of the season.

However, the report states that Spurs have not been alone in talks with Newcastle also immersing themselves in negotiations, while Chelsea and Arsenal have also been tracking the South Korean’s progress this season, as have Juventus and Porto.

Kim has been a high-performing regular for Fenerbahce this term, turning out on 34 occasions to help lift his side up to fourth place in the Super Lig table (Transfermarkt).

Kim is one of those players who has been on Tottenham’s radar before and seems to be a rumour that just won’t go away.

He appears to be doing well at Fenerbahce this season and Spurs do need another centre-back this summer, but it will be down to whether Antonio Conte sees him as a good fit for the squad.
