Sky Sport Italia are reporting that Tottenham have now begun talks with Gennaro Gattuso as a possible alternative candidate.
Gattuso left Fiorentina just 23 days after joining as manager, with the decision said to be down to a disagreement over transfer strategies (The Athletic).
Fonseca was expected to be confirmed as Tottenham’s new head coach this week on an expected three-year deal after talks progressed well last weekend (Guardian).
