Report: Spurs in talks with Mourinho signing over new deal

Tottenham Hotspur are opening talks with Pierre-Emile Hobjerg over a new contract, according to Football Insider.

The midfielder has had an impressive start to the season under Antonio Conte and is set to be rewarded for his efforts with a new deal that includes improved terms.

Hojbjerg was said to have caught the eye of European champions Real Madrid during the summer as they looked to replace Casemiro, who moved to Manchester United ahead of the new season (The Telegraph).

The Danish international was brought to north London by Jose Mourinho back in the summer of 2020 for around £15million and signed a five-year deal with the north Londoners (Sky Sports).

It is said that the 27-year-old currently earns around £95,000 a week and a new deal will move him into the second bracket of the highest earners at the club.

Hojbjerg’s game has evolved under Conte this season to a degree having added more goals and assists to his game. He has been one of the club’s most consistent performers during the current campaign, with arguably his highlight being his last-minute winner against Marseille which secured Spurs top place in their Group D Champions League group.
