Report: Spurs in talks with several clubs over loan move for 19-year-old

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with a number of League One clubs over a loan move for Malachi Fagan-Walcott.

Fagan-Walcott is highly thought of at Spurs, having been handed his senior debut by Jose Mourinho in the Champions League round of 16 clash against RB Leipzig in March 2020.

The centre-back was loaned to Scottish Championship side Dundee FC in January of last year but his spell north of the border was cut short by injury.

The teenager has impressed for the Under-23s so far this campaign, having scored twice in 17 appearances in Premier League 2 (Transfermarkt). Spurs confirmed last month that Fagan-Walcott had signed fresh terms until 2023.

According to Football Insider, the defender has trained regularly with Antonio Conte’s first team this season and the coaches at Spurs believe he will be best served by going on loan next season.

The North London club have reportedly held discussions over an early loan agreement for Fagan-Walcott, with several League One clubs said to be eager to sign the centre-back.

Fagan-Walcott’s progress has been curtailed due to injury woes over the last two years but there is no doubting the 19-year-old’s talent. Playing competitive football for a lower league club would come with its challenges, particularly for a centre-back, but the teenager seems equipped to deal with them.
