Report: Spurs insider suggests the club have earmarked defender for summer sale

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has said that Ben Davies will be allowed to leave the club this summer as Spurs look to revamp that left-back position.

Davies is currently the longest-serving player at Spurs, having spent a decade at the club since joining from Swansea City back in 2014.

The Welshman was valued highly by Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, and the same is also true of Ange Postecoglou, who has spoken very highly of the defender, praising his character and his attitude in training (BBC Sport).

Davies, who is currently out with an injury, has not just filled in at left-back this season but also performed admirably at centre-back when Micky van de Ven was out injured.

Ben Davies could be sold by Spurs this summer

The 31-year-old currently has a year left on his contract and O’Keefe has now revealed that he could now exit Hotspur Way as a part of a mass exodus this summer.

He revealed that Spurs are willing to listen to offers for over a dozen players, with Davies being one of them.

When Postecoglou talked last week about having to make tough decisions this summer and letting some good players go, he was probably referring to the likes of Davies.

While the Weslhman has not done much wrong this season, perhaps Ange will feel the time has come to look in a new direction as he looks to build a squad that can compete over the long term.
