Report: Spurs insiders ‘taken aback’ by Daniel Levy’s summer transfer activity

Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer window this summer.

The north Londoners finished last season in fourth place in the Premier League table and secured a return to Champions League football at the expense of rivals Arsenal.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte held a meeting with the club’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici back in their native Italy just days after the end of the campaign, an article from The Telegraph claimed that Conte would be handed six new signings.

To date, Tottenham have brought in Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison as Conte looks to assemble a squad capable of mounting a serious challenge in the Premier League and Champions League.

The Mail have now claimed that Spurs insiders have been ‘taken aback’ by Daniel Levy’s chance of tack by looking to get the club’s new incomings completed early in the transfer window rather than leaving it to the last minute.

Conte is said to have wanted the majority of the new arrivals to be signed and sealed before the club travel to South Korea on July 9th so he could work wth them during pre-season (The Times).

Conte’s influence on the club and notably Levy is clear to see given the business which has been done so early on in the window.

For too many years, we have either left deals to the last minute or not addressed the key areas of the squad which need strengthening – this summer feels different and hopefully signals a change in the mentality and fortunes of Spurs.
