Report: Spurs interested in League One starlet but will not enter a bidding war

According to a report from Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to keep a close eye on Wigan starlet Kyle Joseph.

The teenager has won several admirers with his performances this season, having netted five times in 12 appearances in League One so far (TransferMarkt).

At the start of January, The Sun claimed that Tottenham were set to return with a second offer for the striker after seeing their initial £150,000 offer rejected by Wigan during the summer transfer window.

However, The Daily Mirror reported last week that Tottenham’s pursuit of the teenager will be anything but straight forward as the likes of Celtic, Rangers and Sheffield United were also interesting in snapping up the 19-year-old.

Football.London have reiterated those claims as they revealed that the aforementioned three clubs all hold a serious interest in Joseph.

However, they also report that Spurs will not enter into a bidding war for the Wigan youngster if they are not able to sign him on relatively low price.

This is because those at the North London club are said to rate Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett very highly and expect both players to be potential first-team prospects in the future.

Spurs Web Opinion

A club cannot have too many talented youngsters and so it would certainly be a positive if we are able to snap up Joseph. There is no guarantee with young talents that they would be able to make the step up to the first-team as we have seen many live failing to live up to their potential.
