Report: Spurs interested in old Man City boss but he is not keen on joining

Estadio Deportivo have named Manuel Pellegrini as a potential candidate to take over from Antonio Conte at Tottenham but add that he has no intention of leaving Real Betis this summer.

Tottenham have been linked with a whole host of managers over the last couple of weeks but if reports over recent days are to be believed, their list has now narrowed down to four candidates – Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Frank, Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany (Daily Star).

However, other names such as Luis Enrique (Sport) and Brendan Rodgers (Football Insider) also continued to be linked with a move to N17.

Estadio Deportivo have now thrown another name into the hat in the form of Pellegrini, suggesting that he could become a target for the Lilywhites this summer.

However, the report adds that the Chilean is happy at Real Betis and that the club are now working to try to extend his current contract, which runs until 2025.

The report adds that Pellegrini has made it clear to the club that he has no intention to leave until his current deal expires.

However, the former Manchester City head coach is thought to have a release clause of €6.5m (£5.7m) in his contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no chance that Spurs, or any other top 10 Premier League club for that matter, would consider a move for Pellegrini.

While he does tick one box as his teams play attacking, possession-based football, he is certainly not a name that would get the players or the fans excited.
