Tottenham Hotspur fans may soon have to adjust to life without their star playmaker Christian Eriksen.

The Great Dane has been a hit ever since moving from Ajax, but he enters the final year of his contract at the end of this season, and there does not appear to be a new one on the table.

Perhaps the midfielder is hoping for a move to the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid, as her certainly hasn’t been playing like a man who wants to stay at Spurs in recent weeks.

It is hard to blame a player of his calibre for wanting to play for one of the biggest and most successful teams in the world, but Spurs will face one hell of a job replacing him.

The Guardian believe Tottenham may turn to the source from which they plucked Eriksen himself, as they pursue Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech.

Ziyech boasts an impressive 21 goals and 38 assists in his first two season with Ajax, so could he be the man to fill Eriksen’s shoes?
