Report: Spurs interested in signing £55m World Cup winner

Tottenham Hotspur may soon have to dip into the transfer market for a new centre-back as their first-team duo inch towards an exit.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have been the club’s starting pairing for a number of years now, but both are in the final year of their respective contracts.

While Pochettino already has the youthful likes of Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, and Japhet Tanganga, he may look to bolster his squad with some experience.

What better place to start than a man with a World Cup winner’s medal?

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old centre-back, Matthias Ginter, from Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.

Bild claim that the German outfit want around £55m if they are to let Ginter come and join the Premier League, although he will likely stay put for this season (Star).

Ginter was part of the German 2014 World Cup winning team and now has 26 senior caps to his name.
