Report: Spurs interested in signing former Man Utd man on free transfer

According to Calciomercato.it, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Angel Di Maria when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain runs out.

Di Maria’s previous stint in the Premier League with Manchester United did not go according to plan for the Argentine and proved to be short-lived.

The winger has thrived since moving to Paris in 2015 but has had to be content with a bit-part role this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Di Maria’s current deal with PSG runs out in the summer and Calciomercato.it claim the winger will part ways with the Ligue 1 giants at the end of the season.

Juventus are said to have expressed interest in signing the 34-year-old, who is thought to be open to the idea of moving to Turin.

Tottenham are named as Juve’s main competitor for Di Maria’s signature but is also explained that the player could return to Argentine to finish his career in his home county.

Spurs Web Opinion

There are several reasons why this proposed transfer would not make sense for Spurs.

We are fairly well stocked for options in the wide areas as things stand, and the club will likely be looking at players of a younger profile as part of their rebuild.

The only reason why Spurs could be tempted is that Di Maria is available for free, and the transfer would entail no risk.
