Report: Spurs interested in signing player just relegated from the Premier League

The Daily Mirror report that Antonio Conte sees Burnley star Maxwel Cornet as a player who could bolster his attacking options this summer.

Cornet scored nine times and assisted once for the Clarets this season (TransferMarkt) but his sizeable contribution was not enough to keep them in the top flight of English football.

The Athletic recently revealed that Cornet has a £17.5 million relegation clause in his five-year deal at Burnley.

The 25-year-old’s ability to operate in a number of attacking roles would add versatility and create competition in Conte’s squad. Cornet has been employed as a wing-back, winger, and striker during his first season in English football and has handled the challenge with ease.

His pace, finishing and positional awareness would add another string to Spurs’ plethora of attacking riches.

However, with Spurs also tracking other options such as Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic (Daily Mirror), it is yet to be seen who Conte would prefer to recruit.

This would be a solid addition to the squad. But with Spurs officially announcing that an extra £150 million is to be invested into the club this summer, many fans will be crying out for players who are of the highest calibre. This being said, if Conte wants the Ivorian international, then that is good enough for me.
