Report: Spurs interested in signing player Man Utd are ‘eager to sell’

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, according to a report from The Daily Star.

Pierluigi Gollini became the first player to arrive through the door in the Fabio Paratici era, with Tottenham confirming the goalkeeper’s capture on Saturday.

Sevilla winger Bryan Gil is expected to join the Italian in N17 soon while the North Londoners are seemingly close to sealing the signing of Gollini’s Atalanta teammate, Cristian Romero.

It has also been reported that Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to add a striker to his squad this summer, with Danny Ings thought to Spurs’ number one target.

If the Star’s latest update is to be believed, the Lilywhites also have their eye on Martial. The report reveals that United are eager to cash in on the French international after signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

It is asserted that while Tottenham are ready to meet United’s £50m valuation of Martial, the 25-year-old’s £250,000 weekly wages would be a massive stumbling block for the North Londoners.

Spurs Web Opinion

Going by the developments over the last few days, I am starting to suspect that Tottenham already have an agreement in principle to sell Kane to City this summer.

It is possible that Spurs want to bring in all their signings before Kane’s sale is announced in order to ensure clubs do not hold them for ransom during negotiations (just as the club did with Bale in 2013).

I certainly cannot see us signing Martial if the England captain stays.
