Report: Spurs interested in signing winger who Arsenal let go in 2017

According to Bild, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry, who is said to be facing an uncertain future at Bayern Munich.

Gnabry came through Arsenal’s academy and made his senior debut for the Gunners back in 2012.  However, the wide man struggled to get a regular run in the Premier League club’s first-team and was eventually sold to Bayern Munich in 2017.

Gnabry has gone from strength to strength since his move to Bayern, establishing himself as one of the most potent attackers in the Bundesliga and winning more than 30 caps for the German national team.

Tottenham fans would know only too well what the pacy wide man is capable of as he put four past the Lilywhites in Spurs’ 7-2 loss to Bayern in the Champions League in 2019.

The winger has not been a fixture in Bayern’s starting eleven under Julian Nagelsmann this season but he has still notched up 12 goals and nine assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

With Gnabry’s contract at the Allianz Arena running out in 2023, Bild suggests that the former Arsenal man could leave the Bundesliga giants in the summer.

Spurs are alleged to be interested in bringing the 26-year-old back to the Premier League but Antonio Conte’s men are said to be facing competition from Chelsea for the Bayern star’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gnabry would be an unbelievable coup for us if we somehow manage to pull off his signing. However, the chances of that seem extremely slim.

Not only might the 26-year-old be put off from the move due to his Arsenal connections but one would assume that he would also find a move to Chelsea to be a lot more appealing.
