Report: Spurs join Liverpool in race for Rennes winger – Nuno driving pursuit

Jeunes Footeux report that Tottenham have now joined Liverpool in the race for Rennes winger, Jeremy Doku this summer.

Jurgen Klopp reportedly sees Doku as the heir to Sadio Mane at Liverpool, having admired the Rennes man since his Anderlecht days.

Doku has only been with the French club for one season, having transferred last summer to replace the Leeds-bound Raphinha.

The winger managed an impressive 44 appearances for Rennes last season, scoring four goals and assisting another eight (TransferMarkt).

The 19-year-old’s current contract doesn’t run out until 2025, but that hasn’t stopped Tottenham from showing interest. It is said that Nuno Espirito Santo, himself is driving the pursuit, with just days left until the transfer deadline closes.

However, Rennes are said to want a massive £43m for their man this summer, with Nuno viewing him as an alternative option to Wolves’ Adama Traore.

Spurs Web Opinion:

For a club like Spurs, £43m for a relatively unproven teenager who isn’t even scoring or assisting that many in France yet is too big of a risk. If it was a toss-up between the Premier League proven Traore and the potential of Doku, it would be the former for me.
