Report: Spurs ‘joined the race’ for 23-year-old after accidentally spotting him

Sabah have revealed that Tottenham are now interested in a summer move for Baris Alper Yilmaz after accidentally spotting the Galatasaray winger on their recent scouting mission to Turkey.

The report reveals that representatives from Spurs had made a trip to Istanbul to watch Tanguy Ndombele and to ‘prepare a report’ on the Frenchman.

However, while doing so, it is alleged that Yilmaz caught their eye, with the scouts from the North London side quite impressed by the versatile wide-forward.

The report explains that Spurs then started watching the 23-year-old regularly, leading to his name entering their transfer list.

The outlet alleges that Ange Postecoglou’s men have now ‘joined the race’ for the Turkey international, which is now heating up ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

The publication adds that Galatasaray have no intention of selling the winger on the cheap, with the Istanbul club expected to demand over over €20m (£17m) for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham and their network of scouts are likely watching several players across the continent at the moment. Just because they are keeping tabs on Yilmaz, does not mean that they are likely to enter the race for the 23-year-old’s signature next summer.
