Report: Spurs keen on English centre-back but would need big bid to sign him

The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur would have to make a substantial bid in order to convince AC Milan to cash in on Fikayo Tomori this summer.

According to recent reports, strengthening at centre-back is one of Tottenham’s priorities when the transfer market opens in the summer (Football.London).

CalcioMercatoWeb.it reported back in February that Tomori is one of the players on Spurs’ radar, with the report alleging that the North London club are prepared to offer the centre-back a route back into the Premier League.

The outlet suggested that the Lilywhites could even offer Emerson Royal to Milan as part of the deal in order to ‘tease’ the Rossoneri.

The Mail have now backed up Tottenham’s interest in Tomori but they add that the Lilywhites are not alone in their admiration for the centre-back, with the player also said to be on Man Utd’s wishlist.

However, it is explained that Milan have no intention of letting the former Chelsea star leave this summer and that it would take a ‘huge offer’ to convince the Serie A side to sell the England international.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham are to pursue a young, English centre-half this summer, I would prefer it to be Marc Guehi rather than Tomori.

The Palace star would likely cost as much as the 25-year-old but is more well-rounded, younger and arguably has a higher ceiling.
