Report: Spurs keen on Italian sporting director who is also interesting Chelsea and Juventus

Tottenham Hotspur have joined a long list of clubs who are interested in Napoli sporting director Cristiano Guintoli, according to Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera.

Guintoli’s exploits at Napoli have caught the attention of the likes of Juventus and Chelsea who are both also in the market to look to bring in an experienced person to lead their transfer activity.

The report claims that Guintoli believes he has completed his project in Naples and is now negotiating a mutually-agreed departure despite having one year left to run on his contract.

Napoli secured the Serie A title last week for the first time since 1990, having done so in impressive fashion with a number of established players having left the club during the summer including Kalidou Koulibaly, Dries Mertens, and captain Lorenzo Insigne.

Their summer recruitment headed up by Guintoli has proven to be shrewd with the arrivals of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim-min Jae who played a key part in their league success.

Tottenham are currently seeking a replacement for Fabio Paratici, who resigned as the managing director of football after losing an appeal in Italy against his 30-month ban from the game.

Tottenham are in somewhat of a crisis and ideally need to get a new managing director of football in place before appointing Antonio Conte’s replacement.

The likes of Julian Nagelsmann will want to know exactly who they would be working with on the transfer front, rather than seeing someone come through the doors who they feel they are not compatible with.
