Report: Spurs keeping tabs on 20-year-old Crystal Palace left-back

According to a report in The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on the progress of Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell.

Mitchell is yet to break into Palace’s first team but the 20-year-old is thought of very highly at the London club.

The report reveals that the youngster was originally set to be given an opportunity this campaign after shining for the club during last summer’s pre-season tour but injury problems have prevented him from doing so.

The quick and energetic full-back is reportedly similar in terms of style to former Palace academy graduate, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and is also expected by some at the club to reach similar heights.

It is said that Mitchell’s performances for Palace’s Under-23s have piqued Tottenham’s interest in snapping him up.

The youngster reportedly previously had a trial in North London with Jose Mourinho’s side.

However, it remains to be seen if Palace could be tempted into selling Mitchell with the report indicating that he is still held in high regard within the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

While it is possible that we are tracking Mitchell’s development, I would be extremely surprised if we made a move for him this summer. In Ryan Sessegnon and Dennis Cirkin, we have two young players who have the talent to make the left-back spot their own in the coming years, if they keep improving.
