Report: Spurs ‘lay groundwork’ to sign new midfielder this summer

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are already laying the groundwork to sign RB Leipzig playmaker, Marcel Sabitzer this summer.

The report adds that the North Londoners are planning an ‘overhaul’ in the next transfer window, with Sabitzer apparently being an early target for Daniel Levy and co.

It is said that the Austrian has turned down any attempts to sign him to a new contract in Germany and, as he enters the final year of his current deal, a summer exit is likely.

Football Insider claim that a Tottenham source has told them the club first made contact over a potential Sabitzer deal back in January and he remains a firm target.

The report adds that Sabitzer had been identified as a personal Mourinho target rather than a player picked out by the Tottenham recruitment team.

Finally, the report claims that Spurs are laying the groundwork for a deal which, in turn, implies that Mourinho is still expected to be in charge at the start of next season.
