Report: Spurs lead Arsenal in race for Bayern Munich £12.8m man

According to a report in Bleacher Report, Tottenham Hotspur are the front runners to land Bayern Munich centre half Jerome Boateng in the January transfer window.

Boateng, who previously had a short stint in the Premier League with Manchester City, has been a mainstay in Bayern’s defence since moving to the Bundesliga giants in 2011.

However, the 31-year-old defender has been struggling for playing time recently and has been tipped for a move away from the Allianz Arena in January.

Sky Sports relayed a report from Sky Germany a couple of days ago that suggested that Bayern would be ready to let him leave this month for approximately £12.8m (€15m). The report claimed that Arsenal were keen on bringing the German international back to the Premier League.

However, the report from Bleacher Report asserts that Boateng has multiple offers on the table with Spurs and Italian giants Juventus said to be leading the race for his signature this month.

While sorting out Alderweireld’s future was a big boost to our defence, we still look in need of more defensive reinforcements. Boateng has an abundance of experience and will bring a winning mentality to the club. So if he is available, I am not surprised that Spurs are keen on bringing him to North London.
