Report: Spurs lead Chelsea in race for striker but it will depend on price tag

Alfredo Pedulla has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are currently the front-runners to sign Richarlison despite Chelsea’s interest in the Everton forward.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Richalison over the last couple of weeks, and Fabrizio Romano revealed on the Que Golazo podcast (09:00) on Monday that the North London club are now set to launch an official offer for the Brazilian.

However, Sky Sports News reported on the same day that Chelsea are contemplating challenging their London rivals for the 25-year-old.

Pedulla has now stated that Thomas Tuchel’s men have identified Richarlison as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is set to return to Inter Milan on loan.

The journalist explains that, as things stand, Tottenham are leading the race for the Toffees forward ahead of the blues.

Pedulla claims that Chelsea and Spurs could be set for a major battle for Richarlison’s signature over the next few days, and adds that the striker’s destination could depend on Everton’s valuation.

The one advantage that Spurs potentially have over Chelsea in the race for Richarlison is Everton’s interest in Harry Winks.

However, having said that, the Toffees forward might feel he has a better chance of establishing himself as the number one striker at Stamford Bridge, given the quality that Spurs have upfront.
