Tottenham Hotspur have been far from their best over the first two games of the season, yet they beat Aston Villa 3-1 and earned a point away to Man City.

One player who has stood out as a class performer in both matches is Christian Eriksen, a man who has featured a lot in the papers this summer.

Eriksen revealed his desire to leave the club in search of a new challenge for the new season at the start of the transfer window, yet he still remains a Spurs player (Ekstra Bladet).

However, he did claim that if no big offers came in for him that he would happily talk to Tottenham about a new deal.

It appears that things have changed though, as The Mirror now report that Eriksen has left Spurs baffled by refusing to even enter new contract talks.

Spurs are willing to offer over £200,000 to keep the playmaker, but it seems as if the Great Dane is intent on leaving this year, or on a free in 2020.

  1. If you think Eriksen ‘stood out as a class performer’ against Manchester City then you couldn’t have watched the game.
As is nearly always the case against the really good teams he was totally anonymous, the game just passed him by.
If they can Spurs need to sell him ASAP or he will leave for free at the end of the season, he will be a big loss but Spurs have no option.

  2. Levy should have seen this one coming , and bought Bruno Ferdinand , but Levy is a tight fisted self centred muppet who has never delivered when needed, always been a quality striker short, a quality midfield player short for at least a season, and now spurs are short of at least one quality full back with CB’s being a problem next season, while ENIC and Levy control the purse string Spurs will never reach the next level.

  3. Are you saying Eriksen stood out against City to get a reaction Seb?

Eriksen has been a fantastic player for us over the years but for the majority of the game he was a passenger.

It is fair comment from one of our greatest players in Glenn Hoddle who said some time ago that Eriksen doesn’t turn up and perform in the truly big games and by that I mean when something big is on the line like the Champions League Final.

If it were possible, I would have liked us to have also invested in an English young talent such as Leicester’s Maddison who scores goals but also creates many assists.

  4. I think that’s why he is going because the truth has been revealed about how he does not show up for the big games and its really dented his ego. If he cannot swallow his pride and play for the shirt then stuff him bon voyage Christen!
