Report: Spurs legend weighing up move for player from his old club

Tottenham Hotspur legend Jurgen Klinsmann is being linked with a move for Victor Wanyama.

Klinsmann is now in charge of Hertha Berlin and with the Spurs midfielder said to be on the radar of the Bundesliga side, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Kenyan moved to White Hart Lane from Southampton on a five-year deal in June 2016 for £11million (BBC).

He was in superb form in his first season under Mauricio Pochettino where he made 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals (transfermarkt).

In recent seasons, Wanyama has suffered with knee problems (Standard) which have significantly affected his involvement in North London and also seen him fall considerably down the midfield pecking order behind the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Eric Dier and even academy product Oliver Skipp.

The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a summer move to Club Brugge, with the BBC reporting that a £13.6million deal had been agreed only for the transfer to fail to materilaise.

Klinsmann is also said to be considering Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka as an alternative option to bolster his defensive midfield options.
