Report: Spurs ‘likely’ to target 21-year-old Premier League star this summer

The Evening Standard has revealed that Tariq Lamptey is likely to be on Tottenham Hotspur’s shopping list in the summer.

Tottenham strengthened their squad through the addition of Juventus pair Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur during the January window.

However, the North London club were unable to strengthen at right wing-back before the deadline, with the club’s first-choice target Adama Traore snubbing them in favour of a move to Barcelona instead (Mirror).

Spurs are also said to have enquired about the availability of Yannick Carrasco in January but Atletico Madrid allegedly did not want to let the Belgian leave (David Ornstein).

It was even reported by some sources (90 min) that Tottenham had a late offer of £12m plus add-ons turned down by Middlesbrough for Djed Spence.

The Evening Standard have now suggested that, having failed to sign a right-back last month, Tottenham are ‘likely’ to turn their attentions to Lamptey at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

While some Spurs fans are understandably displeased at the club’s failure to sign a right-back and a striker in January, I would rather see us go for top players in the summer than settle for less-than-ideal signings in January, which would, in turn, affect our ability to spend in the summer.
