Report: Spurs line up Man United player to replace experienced star

Multiple reports over the past few months have indicated that Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris this summer (Daily Mail).

Lille’s Mike Maignan has been linked with a move to North London (Tuttosport via Tribal Football) which is unsurprising considering that he worked with Spurs goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos in Ligue 1.

Trabzonspor’s Ugurcan Cakir has been touted as another possible option but recent reports indicate that the Turkish international prefers a move to Sevilla (Sporx).

A report in The Sun (as relayed by TEAMtalk) has now revealed that Tottenham have turned their attentions to Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Henderson has been in terrific form on loan at Sheffield United this season and it is revealed that he is attracting interest from Spurs and Chelsea.

The 23-year-old is reportedly available for £22million and Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on bringing him to Tottenham in order to fight it out with Lloris for the number one jersey.

Spurs Web Opinion

If the rumoured £22million asking price for Henderson is true, then there is no doubt that he would be a much better option for us to go for than either Maignan or Cakir. However, I doubt Manchester United would want to sell him for such a low price given that he has likely been earmarked as David De Gea’s long-term replacement.
