Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a move for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn, according to the Daily Mail.

The Scottish international arrived at Aston Villa for just £2.5million (The Sun) scored three goals and registered four assists in 35 top flight appearances last season (transfermarkt).

McGinn has another three years left on his contract, which runs out in 2025, having signed an extension in 2020 (transfermarkt).

The Telegraph claimed last month that Antonio Conte is looking to lure the 27-year-old to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he looks to assemble a side capable of competing for silverware.

Tottenham need another central midfielder within their ranks given the fact Harry Winks is likely to depart this summer given his lack of game time.

McGinn offers a far more from an attacking perspective with his eye for a pass, however, it is likely that Villa would demand a hefty fee given he has three years to run on his current deal.
