Report: Spurs line up two possible Alderweireld replacements

Tottenham Hotspur have had one of the very best central defender duos in world football over the past few seasons in Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

However, Spurs may struggle to keep Toby beyond the end of this season, as the Belgian’s contract draws to a close.

Spurs extended Alderweireld’s deal by an extra year in early 2019, but in doing so, they activated a clause that will allow him to leave for just £25m in the summer.

Tottenham fans will have their fingers crossed that Alderweireld wants to see out his deal and play a full season in the new stadium.

However, reports indicate that Tottenham are lining up potential replacements if needed, including a World Cup 2018 star (Football London).

Domagoj Vida was an absolute rock at the back for Croatia during their route to the final, and his club, Besiktas, may have to sell star players this summer to comply with financial fair play.

Takvim claim that Pochettino has demanded Tottenham buy him to strengthen their squad.

Spurs are also said to be interested in Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, with club officials reportedly sent to scout the 22-year-old recently (Gazzetta dello Sport).
