Report: Spurs lining up summer move for England international

According to a report from Eurosport, Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for Southampton’s Danny Ings in the summer with the striker continuing to stall on signing a new contract at St Mary’s.

Ings was linked heavily with a move to Spurs during the summer transfer window, with talkSPORT reporting at the time that Tottenham’s approach for the striker was rejected by the Saints.

The 28-year-old has been prolific yet again for Ralph Hasennhuttl’s side, having netted seven times in 13 league appearances so far this campaign (transfermarkt.com).

Eurosport clai, that Spurs did make an attempt to sign the former Liverpool man in the summer but shifted their attentions to Carlos Vinicius after it became clear that the England international was not looking for a move.

However, they reveal that Ings continues to stall on signing a new contract with Southampton, with his current deal set to run out in 2022.

The report claims that Spurs are planning to explore if Ings is seriously considering his future at the club and the North London club are monitoring the situation ahead of a potential summer bid.

Spurs Web Opinion

One can understand why Ings would have been hesitant to come to Tottenham last season as he might have feared that he would have been an understudy to Kane. However, with the England captain proving this season that he can thrive in a deeper role, Mourinho can certainly make the case to Ings that the pair can play together.
