Report: Spurs-linked centre-back is looking for a new agent

According to FC Inter News, rumoured Tottenham target Stefan De Vrij is now looking for a new agent, with his current contract with Inter Milan running out next summer.

During the summer transfer window, reports indicated that De Vrij was on Tottenham’s radar (Football Insider) but the Dutchman stayed put at the San Siro.

CaclioMercatoWeb.it reported back in August that Inter were willing to offer the Dutchman a new deal worth €3m (£2.5m) per year, which is lower than the €4.2m (£3.5m) that he currently earns.

The report added that if the 30-year-old does not sign an extension, Antonio Conte’s men could snap him up on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

If FC Inter News’ latest update is to be believed, De Vrij’s situation is ‘still in the balance’, with the defender said to be looking for a new agent. The Netherlands international has allegedly spoken to a series of agents including Federico Pastorello.

The publication explains that whoever De Vrij appoints as his agent, the experienced centre-back is not likely to sign a new deal with the Nerazzurri at least for a few more months.

Spurs Web Opinion

If De Vrij does become available on a free transfer, one would expect plenty of clubs to be vying for his signature next summer. Conte may value the Dutchman’s leadership and experience, and might view the Inter star as an ideal cover for Eric Dier in the central sweeper role.
