Report: Spurs-linked defender could be available on loan in January

Chelsea are believed to be willing to let Trevoh Chalobah leave the club on loan during the January transfer window, despite preferring a permanent sale. Regardless, this could put Spurs on alert, as they hold an interest in the 24-year-old.

A big priority for Tottenham in the summer was to bolster a defence which leaked 63 goals in the Premier League last season. The signing of Micky van de Ven appears to have gone a long way to putting that right.

The Dutchman has formed a brilliant partnership with Cristian Romero at the heart of Ange Postecoglou‘s defence and the pair look inseparable now.

However, with Davinson Sanchez leaving the club in the summer, Japhet Tanganga departing on loan for the season, and Eric Dier’s future in doubt at the club, there is an undeniable need for further reinforcements at centre-back.

Spurs are known to be looking to sign another defender in January (Football Insider), and it seems Chelsea may be able to provide the solution to that need.

Trevoh Chalobah could be available on loan

According to the latest report from 90Min, Chalobah himself is “ready to leave” Chelsea in the New Year, and has had conversations with Mauricio Pochettino about his future.

While Chelsea are keen to “raise money” through a full transfer for the 24-year-old, it is thought the West London club would “entertain loan offers” in January if they were to be “financially beneficial.”

Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Fulham and Newcastle United are all believed to be interested in Chalobah, while Roma and Juventus are also in the mix.

Meanwhile, we know that Tottenham hold an interest, too, and are willing to offer him a way out of Chelsea in the next transfer window (Football.London).

Spurs Web Opinion

I really don’t rate Chalobah that highly and think there are so many better options out there for a new centre-back, without having to sign a player from a rival club. There looks to be a lot of competition for Chalobah, so Chelsea will no doubt demand a big loan fee.
