Report: Spurs-linked defender disappointed not to have secured exit from Italian side

Tottenham Hotspur were strongly linked with a move for Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu earlier this summer.

Football.London claimed at the start of last month that Spurs had entered negotiations with the Serie A side and were hopeful of landing the defender for a deal worth below £20million.

A transfer to North London has failed to materialise for the 22-year-old who headed back to his native Japan to take part in his country’s Olympic Games side, who made it to the bronze medal match, only to be beaten by Mexico.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition(25/08) have claimed that Tomiyasu remains disappointed not to have secured his exit from the club, with his agent looking to open the door to a Premier League move, however, no clubs are currently prepared to meet the demands of Bologna.

Japhet Tanganga’s early season form may have given Fabio Paratici second thoughts on whether the club need to look to sign a player who can cover at both right-back and central defence.

At this rate, it looks as if Tomiyasu will have to accept the fact he will be playing for another season at Bologna.
