Report: Spurs-linked defender expected to be ‘on the market’ in 2023

Torino Granata have claimed that Wilfried Singo, who was linked with a move to Tottenham during the summer transfer window, is expected to leave Torino at the end of the 2022-23 season.

Singo established himself as a regular in Torino’s starting XI during the 2020-21 season and the right-back has come on leaps and bounds since then.

Tuttosport reported back in April that Conte is ‘in love with’ the 21-year-old and Fabio Paratici was already laying the groundwork to bring him to Spurs.

However, Singo ended up staying put at Torino while Tottenham snapped up Djed Spence from Middlesbrough instead.

Torino Granata have now revealed that despite the Ivorian’s current contract running out next summer, there is an automatic renewal in his deal which will last until 2024.

The report suggests that whether Singo leaves Turin in January would depend on the kind of offers he attracts. It is said that, as things stand, the right-back is expected to ‘end up on the market’ at the end of the season.

We know that both Conte and Paratici are fans of Singo, and one should not rule out a Destiny Udogie kind of deal whereby Spurs sign the 21-year-old and loan him back out to the Serie A.

With Emerson Royal still not fully convincing in the wing-back role and Doherty about to turn 31, Spurs could well be in the market for another right wing-back at the end of the season.
